CLOCKSS IS COMMUNITY-LED
The archive is governed by and for, its beneficiaries, not a third-party. Publishers and librarians have equal say in deciding procedures, priorities, and when to trigger content.
CLOCKSS IS SECURE
CLOCKSS's decentralized, geographically disparate preservation model ensures that the digital assets of the scholarly community will survive intact. Additionally, it satisfies the demand for locally situated archives with 12 archive nodes worldwide.
CLOCKSS IS COLLABORATIVE
CLOCKSS participants have the opportunity to be deeply involved in all aspects of our industry and help to keep the community’s best interests at the forefront. CLOCKSS participates in the community and represents the shared interests of libraries and publishers on industry policies and practices.
CLOCKSS IS UNIQUE
For libraries and publishers that do not want to put "all their eggs in one basket," CLOCKSS adds a distinctive option to the mix of archiving solutions.
CLOCKSS IS SUSTAINABLE
Low operating costs make it possible for institutions of all sizes and budgets to participate in CLOCKSS. Participation is affordable, and our goal is to lower the cost of participation over time. As a long-term preservation organization, CLOCKSS believes that a robust Succession Plan is required. In the unlikely event of the demise of CLOCKSS, four of our twelve library nodes have committed to continuing the preservation of the content in the Archive.
