British Institute of Radiology Preserves with the CLOCKSS Archive

CLOCKSS is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the British Institute of Radiology (BIR) to preserve their e-journals in CLOCKSS’s geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world.

By archiving with CLOCKSS, BIR has committed to the preservation of their e-journals. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a “trigger event” and ensures an author’s work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.

“The BIR has been an academic publisher for over 100 years. We are delighted to have found a way to preserve our e-journals for library and institutional subscribers and readers for many years to come,” states Sherry Dixon, Publisher.

CLOCKSS Executive Director Randy S. Kiefer adds, “CLOCKSS welcomes the British Institute of Radiology’s e-journals into the community’s archive. The BIR is engaged in a worthy mission of creating discussion and information exchange regarding the potential of imaging science. We are pleased to preserve their content. CLOCKSS has achieved a rare consensus among libraries and publishers, and we are grateful as the British Institute of Radiology joins the CLOCKSS Archive for its generous willingness to preserve its e-journals in a way that secures them for the long-term good of scholars worldwide.”

About BIR: The British Institute of Radiology is an independent multidisciplinary organisation and a registered charity whose membership is open to everyone with an interest in radiology and radiation oncology. All our members are equal regardless of profession or grade. http://www.bir.org.uk
