CLOCKSS Accreditation

CLOCKSS is accredited as a trusted digital repository through a rigorous, independent audit process conducted by the Center for Research Libraries (CRL). It holds the highest score ever awarded under the Trustworthy Repositories Audit and Certification (TRAC) scheme, achieving 14 out of 15, which indicates excellence in technical infrastructure, organizational management, and security.

CLOCKSS also aligns with the Principles for Open Scholarly Infrastructure (POSI), emphasizing community governance and transparency.

Key Aspects of CLOCKSS Accreditation:

  • TRAC and ISO 16363: The audit is based on the TRAC criteria which align with ISO 16363 standards for trustworthy digital repositories.
  • Re-certification: CLOCKSS was the first, and we believe only, TRAC-certified archive to successfully undergo and complete a re-certification audit, ensuring continued adherence to standards.
  • Audit Scope: The evaluation validated CLOCKSS's entire organizational infrastructure, including its organizational management, 12 archive nodes, security and other policies, use of LOCKSS software, and succession planning.
