East View Information Services Preserves with the CLOCKSS Archive

The CLOCKSS Archive is pleased to announce that it has partnered with East View Information Services to preserve their e-journals and e-books in CLOCKSS’s geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world.

By archiving with CLOCKSS, East View Information Services has committed to the preservation of their e-journals and e-Books. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a “trigger event” and ensures an author’s work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.

“East View recognizes that as more institutions turn to online content in addition to or in place of print, they are looking for assurances of permanent access,” said Kent D. Lee, founder and CEO. “East View offers online solutions for most print subscriptions, including complete digital retrospectives of publications such as Pravda and Izvestiia. East View also offers custom conversion services for libraries, allowing them to access their own newspaper collections online via our Universal DatabaseT platform. We recognize that librarians build collections today but must ensure the future availability of today’s intellectual, cultural and historical content. East View’s decision to partner with CLOCKSS is natural, ensuring that libraries have a true preservation solution and permanent access to digital collections.”

CLOCKSS Executive Director Randy S. Kiefer adds, “CLOCKSS welcomes East View Information Services’s e-journals and e-books into the community’s archive. East View represents a very diverse set of content that includes Russian, Arabic, and Chinese language materials. This will encourage other non-English language publishers to seriously consider digitally preserving their content with us. CLOCKSS has achieved a rare consensus among libraries and publishers, and we are grateful as East View Information Services joins the CLOCKSS Archive for its generous willingness to preserve its e-journals and e-books in a way that secures them for the long-term good of scholars worldwide.”
