SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) Preserves with the CLOCKSS Archive

The CLOCKSS Archive is pleased to announce that it has partnered with SIAM to preserve their eJournals and eBooks in CLOCKSS’s geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world.

In addition, SIAM has been elected to a seat on the Board of Directors of the CLOCKSS Archive. David K. Marshall will serve as the representative from SIAM starting in January 2012.

By archiving with CLOCKSS, SIAM has committed to the preservation of their eJournals and eBooks. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a “trigger event” and ensures an author’s work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.

“We are delighted to join CLOCKSS,” states SIAM’s Publisher, David K. Marshall. “Librarians want a guarantee that subscribed or purchased content will be available in perpetuity. In addition, SIAM wants its authors to know that their articles and e-books will be digitally preserved. Partnering with CLOCKSS ensures that both of these goals will be met – now and forever.”

CLOCKSS Executive Director Randy S. Kiefer adds, “CLOCKSS welcomes SIAM’s eJournals and eBooks into the community’s archive. Their content is compelling as they advance the application of mathematics and computational science to engineering, industry, science, and society. SIAM Is one of the leading society-based publishing programs, and their viewpoint will be beneficial to us. CLOCKSS has achieved a rare consensus among libraries and publishers, and we are grateful as SIAM joins the CLOCKSS Archive for its generous willingness to preserve its eJournals and eBooks in a way that secures them for the long-term good of scholars worldwide.”

About SIAM: SIAM exists to ensure the strongest interactions between mathematics and other scientific and technological communities through membership activities, publication of journals and books, and conferences. http://www.siam.org
