The American Mathematical Society Preserves with the CLOCKSS Archive

The CLOCKSS Archive is pleased to announce that it has partnered with the American Mathematical Society to preserve their ejournals and ebooks in CLOCKSS’s geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world. By archiving with CLOCKSS, the American Mathematical Society has committed to the preservation of their ejournals and ebooks. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a “trigger event” and ensures an author’s work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.

Elizabeth Huber, Associate Executive Director for Publishing at the American Mathematical Society said “The Society is pleased to expand its archiving activities to include CLOCKSS. The AMS recognizes the important role of a strong archiving policy in maintaining the scholarly record and sees this as a major part of its efforts to move forward in the use and distribution of digital formats. The addition of CLOCKSS to our archiving strategy reflects our continued commitment to authors, researchers, and conservators of the mathematics literature. “

CLOCKSS Executive Director Randy S. Kiefer adds, “The CLOCKSS Archive welcomes the American Mathematical Society’s ejournals and ebooks into the community’s archive. By archiving with CLOCKSS, AMS, one of the top publishers of advanced mathematics in the world, has ensured the survival of the mathematical research in their publications for a wide audience now and in the future. We are grateful, as the American Mathematical Society joins the CLOCKSS Archive, for its generous willingness to preserve its ejournals in a way that secures them for the long-term good of scholars worldwide.”
