The CLOCKSS Archive is pleased to announce that it has partnered with The Company of Biologists to preserve their e-journals in CLOCKSS’s geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world. By archiving with CLOCKSS, The Company of Biologists has committed to the preservation of their e-journals. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a “trigger event” and ensures an author’s work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.
“With LOCKSS technology already providing perpetual access to our journals and now CLOCKSS providing a permanent access, dark archive solution, we believe that our journals, Development, Journal of Cell Science, The Journal of Experimental Biology, and our Open Access journals, Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open (Launching September 2011) will be effectively preserved for the biological sciences community over time and be in safe hands for the future.” Dr Claire Moulton, Publisher, The Company of Biologists.
CLOCKSS Executive Director Randy S. Kiefer adds, “The CLOCKSS Archive welcomes The Company of Biologists e-Journals into the community’s archive. Since 1925, the aim of The Company of Biologists has been to promote research and study across all branches of biology. Their journals are managed by the community of biologists, and this philosophy is in keeping with CLOCKSS’s commitment to its library-publisher community. By archiving with CLOCKSS, they have ensured the survival of this research for future generations. The CLOCKSS Archive has achieved a rare consensus among libraries and publishers, and we are grateful as The Company of Biologists joins the CLOCKSS Archive for its generous willingness to preserve its e-Journals in a way that secures them for the long-term good of scholars worldwide.”
