The Pennsylvania State University Press Preserves with the CLOCKSS Archive

CLOCKSS is pleased to announce that it has partnered with The Pennsylvania State University Press to preserve their e-journals and e-books in CLOCKSS’s geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world. By archiving with CLOCKSS, Penn State University Press has committed to the preservation of their e-journals and e-Books. This action provides for content to be freely available to everyone after a “trigger event” and ensures that an author’s work will be maximally accessible and useful over time.

“The Pennsylvania State University Press takes great pride in partnering with CLOCKSS on behalf of our many Societies, editors, authors, and researchers worldwide. Respected by institutions, libraries, and scholars worldwide, CLOCKSS tackles the varied and ever-changing challenges of today’s scholarly communication, and assists Penn State University Press in meeting its institutional and strategic objectives and in realizing its commitment to preserve and archive digital scholarly research.” – Patrick H. Alexander, Director, The Pennsylvania State University Press

CLOCKSS Executive Director Randy S. Kiefer adds, “We are excited to expand our coverage of university press content as CLOCKSS welcomes Penn State University Press’s e-journals and e-books into the community’s archive. We have worked to reduce the fees for the presses when their library is also a supporter. CLOCKSS has achieved a rare consensus among libraries and publishers, and we are grateful as Penn State University Press joins the CLOCKSS Archive for its generous willingness to preserve its e-journals and e-books in a way that secures them for the long-term good of scholars worldwide.”
