CLOCKSS Triggers Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention
Print ISSN: 1474-3310, eISSN 1474-3329. Triggered: December 2008.
Oxford University Press journal, Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention, ceased publication in 2008, and was recently triggered from the CLOCKSS Archive. In keeping with its unique mandate, CLOCKSS is proud to offer continuing and public access to all 29 issues of Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention.
The Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention journal was dedicated to advancing clinical practice, public policy, and knowledge-building related to behavioral health, health care, and forensic studies. The journal’s objective was to expand research, theory-building, treatment plans, and practice developments in mental health assessment and treatment, crisis intervention, time-limited psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, coping efficacy, critical incident stress management, psychopharmacology, violence and violence prevention, psychological trauma, forensic risk assessment, suicide prevention, and emergency services. Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention was an interdisciplinary quarterly journal serving researchers, administrators, and practitioners from all disciplines addressing behavioral health and forensic concerns.
The Trigger Process
Oxford University Press (OUP) is a founding member of CLOCKSS. When OUP announced that it was discontinuing Brief Treatment, and the CLOCKSS board determined a trigger event had occurred, the eight volumes of Brief Treatment were made public.
The volumes were prepared for the hosting platforms using a very similar process to that for Graft. A process was run on one of the CLOCKSS boxes that located the eight volumes, extracted their content and rewrote the links between them. The eight volumes (2001 – 2008) were transferred to and are now available from CLOCKSS host institutions, EDINA at University of Edinburgh and Stanford University.

Important: Please Read
- The CLOCKSS system uses LOCKSS technology to preserve content such as Brief Treatment and Crisis Intervention with as much fidelity to the original as possible.
- Some things you may notice are:
- The “CLOCKSS Manifest Pages” that appear when you select the Volume 1 – 8 links above are auto-generated by the publisher. They play an important role by enabling the CLOCKSS Archive to preserve the content of issues in the volumes. The manifest pages are part of the preserved content, and they appear just as the publisher created them.
- Some links in the pages, primarily those pointing to services such as login and e-mail alerts provided by OUP’s publishing system for Brief Treatment no longer work. Instead, you will now see this page.
- Some links in the pages, primarily those pointing to generic OUP services such as search and citations, still take you to those services on OUP’s web site but, because OUP no longer hosts Brief Treatmentsome of them might not return usable results.
